Doh! It turns out that the (identical) error I was getting building netatalk on 3.4-stable was due to the (old) kerberosIV libraries still hanging around (the hazards of upgrades...) Nevermind.

Ummm.. 1.6.3 was committed before final ports lock for 3.4. should still be "current" too. Try updaing your ports tree.
