Well, check out -rSMP src/sys in a directory of your choice and see what happens. You will get a full subtree for the kernel sources as well as a GENERIC.MP kernel config file.

In my understanding, README.SMP is mostly only interesting for developers with cvs access. The build process is exactly the same like shown in the upgrade-mini-faq, just with GENERIC.MP of course, and if i don't miss something. Last time i tried to compile, it encountered some inconsistency and didn't finish.

Also, there are some typos in README.SMP which were reported to bugs@, but nobody seemed to care.

The second CPU should be detected in the current state but won't be usefull. That's all i know so far.
Some got GENERIC.MP compiling and has more info on howto do this properly?
