Sun just might have some docs...

Failing that, you can flail your way through both the NetBSD source code (supporting SMP on old and oddball machines), or dig into FreeBSD stuff (which is importing stuff from the BSD/OS Mach kernel). Now, I remember about two years ago the SMP project homepage for FreeBSD had a lot of general SMP docs and info.

Good place to start, anyway.
