Boy you sure know a lot about newbies. Apparently even what they are thinking...

The point is a simple one to grasp: responsible, mature humans respond civilly to similarly civil inquiries. It's as simple as that. I don't care who is being asked. It's just not the way to treat others. If you prefer to see it this way, such disparaging comments have no redeeming value, with the exception of giving the issuer some sort of satisfaction (presumably) at having vented his spleen. Otherwise they are worthless, and simply help escort the dialogue and the surrounding culture on a slide into hostility and intolerance. Look at what it's done here. Lots of wasted bandwidth and ill-feeling. Useful?

This is a red-herring. These things are orthogonal. This argument is equivalent to saying that you can yell at and curse every single person who comes into your house because you've invested your life savings into it. Yes, you can curse all your visitors, but is that appropriate?

I don't dispute the investment Theo has made in OpenBSD. Nevertheless, he still doesn't have the right to behave badly.

Do you need help?X

Aha. And since the linux folks have claimed all the other territory, all that's left is hostility?
