It's your house, you can do whatever you want. Appropriate has nothing to do with it. People who dont like it can chose not to visit you.

Yes he does. It's his right to behave whatever way he choses. It is also your right to be able to tell him how you think he should behave but he has no obligation whatsoever to listen to you or follow your advice. It's his backyard, he makes the rules. If you dont like it you have the option not to participate. It's not a democracy.
