At a guess, your system's 8M of RAM is not enough for the installation
procedure, and you'll need to manually enable swap. Hopefully you can
get far enough into the install to partition the disk and set up swap.
If your install is dying even before you get an opportunity to drop to
the shell and follow the instructions in the link above, well, you're in
a pickle. Can you not add more RAM to the system? Even just another
8M or 16M? Even if you get an installation with 8M the system will
perform terribly. (Been there, done that, no fun at all.)
