There are some good examples of UNIX Drivers in some books
sorry i cant remember the names but a web search should do the trick..
You first have to figure out is it a 'streams' or 'block' device..
Second you have know how the thing is going to work that is the black box
that you are going to install.
also to help you along your quest you know there are 2 types of drivers...
the normal driver and the one you are talking about is at kernel level and
its very
hard to debug... I have been doing UNIX stuff since '76 @ Interdata
So here is my short cut... remember that I said "that there are two types
of drivers" , ok heres the other type ... I called an application level...
thats right
its STAND ALONE.. this helps you debug you hardware or "BLACK BOX"
BTW
I am trying to write one for an Interphase FDDI S-bus card used in a Sun
5,10, 20, U2, etc..
Good Luck \
