as opposed to letting the dedicated members of your distro wrap up all that info w/ a nice bow, along w/ easily implemented patches?

it's this sort of NIHS (not invented here syndrome) that makes the internet so insecure. one could forgive that behavior when dealing w/ vendors that aren't exactly responsive to security issues, but wrt to openbsd!? 99% of the time one should stick to the vendor package, unless you can specifically justify otherwise (as in feature X, Y and Z are missing, and i'm gonna wet myself if i have to wait any longer). otherwise, you're setting yourself up for failure.

part of a good work ethic is figuring out how to make your job easier and minimizing risk. doing work for work's sake when there are better alternatives is-- as a youngester on tv accused bush of-- being "aggressively stupid".
