To get back on topic for the list, I reported a problem regarding multicast hash filtering in the ste(4) driver using D-Link DFE-580TX 4-port cards a while ago, and I still get the occational private email asking me if that card works. Which it does, apart from multicart reception which requires a patch.

I've posted a simplistic patch here, and I know Aaron Campbell has written a more elaborate patch that doesn't seem to have been published anywhere, but neither seem to have been merged back into the the source tree. The 580 isn't listed as supported hardware either. I've heard reports that other (i.e. dc(4)-based) inexpensive 4-port cards are increasingly hard to find...

Should I contact Aaron about getting his patch submitted and merged in?

Also, I'm still wondering if the ste(4) driver, unpatched, works with the cards that *are* listed as supported, especially WRT multicast reception. Does it?
