Which VLAN is on which interface ? Only things I can think of are strange MAC database interactions on the 3com between VLANs. Also, have you run tcpdump on both interfaces to see what flows ?

Also, though about using trunking and vlanXX interfaces directly ? My understanding is that this should work since Jason Wright put some changes in around 3.1 to make bridging vlan interfaces work.
