Thank you. I found that I dont need the packages 'pl' and 'python'

But still I'm not able to start the 'postgresql server'.

Here is the command I gave,

/etc/rc.d/init.d/postgresql start

and I just get a message saying it failed. Dont know what is the reason. I did not get any error messages while installing the rpm's. So I guess the installation completed successfully.

Do I need to try installing the srpms?

Can you pls let me know.
