Hi
I have a RHEL4 running on a HP DL580 G4 machine with 16 GB of RAM and almost the same of swap.

I´ve been observing that OOM (out of memory killer) has been killing some of my processes; this is a snapshot
of my /var/log/messages:

Jul 27 00:51:33 ipbbkptb04 kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 29225
(bptm).

My question is: why is OOM killing my processes if there was a lot of free pages?

TIA
