RE: unable to create any directory that uses numbers as thedirectory name

Is there any difference if you use the keys on the keypad vs above the letters?

What are you using to access the machine puTTY? Console? What keyboard emulation?

When you do mkdir could you add the -v option to see if you get more info?

Anything change about this server recently? New keyboard...?

I already mentioned mkdir had no alias set.
