Weird. What about this:

  /bin/pwd      # note, _not_ just "pwd" - bash can lie
  df -h .       # shows filesystem for current directory
  mount         # shows type and mount options for same
  ls -ld .      # shows permissions on current dir
  id            # show who you are, to check against permissions
