It depends on your environment. If you're a fast and loose shop, it really doesn't matter if you're doing automatic updates or once a $time-period. A bad one is still going to bring you down when applied. If you have a build=>test=>deploy environment, automatic updates are russian roulette on the deployed production boxes. -- -- John E.
