Why MSSQL resoultion service use the DNS service??

Hi, all

I 've read analysis report of sappire worm, but, I got a question about this report.

MSSQL process infected are generating unlimited IP address for attacking, and it sends UDP packets to generated IP address, not domain name. I think MSSQL server can communicate each other via IP address only.

I know DNS query translate between domain names and IP addresses.

Why MSSQL resolution service rely on DNS query??
