RE: GroupWise vs Exchange

Judd,

I am not an expert in the field of Virii, however, I have not heard of any that attack the Exchange server specifically. Most of the E-Mail born outbreaks have been because of the Client (Outlook). If you use MS Exchange or any other E-Mail / Groupware server the possibility for a virus outbreak is the same. If you use Outlook as a client, then you have an increased possibility of virus or other malware outbreaks. At least for the past few years Outlook / Outlook Express have been the target(s) of choice, who knows where the next target of opportunity will come from.

Just my perspective...

Chris.

Subject: GroupWise vs Exchange

We are a Novell shop and use GroupWise for e-mail. We are considering moving to Exchange. Obviously, virus outbreaks will be more prevalent with Exchange but I was wondering if anyone has (or knows where I could find) hard numbers relating to this. For instance, a case study of a shop that has made this change and costs associated with outbreaks went up by X amount. Or GroupWise shops average X amount of outbreaks a year while Exchange users average X, and at this cost. If anyone can help me with this I would appreciate it.
Thanks
