Libnet configure problem

Installing Libnet 1.1.0 for my Masters research and having a problem installing this program. Keep getting the error configure :1445 :24: sys/sockio.h : No such file or directory configure :failed program was
#line 1444 "configure"
Any help in having this problem explained and how to solve it would be greatly appreciated
