Hi Dan,

I don't think it's up to me (or anyone other than the author to decide for that matter), but since you asked, I would prefer libnet-1.1 be renamed to libnet-2 to ease the transition on systems with applications that support a mix of the two libraries. In the end I think it would encourage development using the new library as well.
