It's just such a no-brainer for combating spam like the one below. I've heard arguments for keeping it disabled in the case of operating system support mailing lists where people may be emailing from a misconfigured host, but surely we'd expect the packeteers responsible for developing apps with libnet would know their arse from their elbow sufficiently well to be able to send emails from the one address consistently?
