While we're on the subject - we have just found out that Writing Secure Code is being picked up by another book distributor to be marketed as an academic text, which means David and I must create some exercises to keep the professors happy! Ssooo... If anyone has an ideas for exercises, please feel free to drop me a note :-)

Cheers, Michael

>>>On a side note, how many universities out there even have a secure

The US Congress recently approved the Cyber Security Research and Development Act (CSRDA), which reflects a large increase in security spending, much of it towards research. It awaits signature from President Bush.

According to CNET, the spending includes "$95 million to give grants to colleges and universities to 'establish or improve undergraduate and master's degree programs in computer and network security.'" This would be over a 5 year period.

Looks like there may be some opportunity here :)

Do you need help?X

>I do feel that much of the problem lies in the earliest computer

Given how many people must start programming in high school, one could argue for even earlier education, but the university level would be a great start.
