I've played a bit with trying different paths and slashes, but end up getting the same messages. I use both UltraEdit and sftp tools for connecting to a OpenSSH server on Linux and FreeBSD without any problems. Any pointers on this would be great, or if any other information is required, please don't hesitate to ask.
