If you want to disable a user temporaly you can add an asterisk (*) before the corresponding entry of that
user in the /etc/passwd file:

before:

miguel:x:500:500:miguel gonzalez:/home/miguel:/bin/bash

*miguel:x:500:500:miguel gonzalez:/home/miguel:/bin/bash
