How can I get the login prompt

Hi All,

The requirement is when I do a ssh <host name>, we expect a login prompt to enter the UserID and Passwd. Presently when I do ssh <hostname> -l <user id> it works. Our requiremenet is we donot want to use the ssh with -l option, instead we expect a login prompt to enter the userid.

Please letme know if there are any options to get the login prompt.
