should be

        exec ssh -l "${LOGINNAME}" "$@"

Other than that, both correct and funny as hell.

I didn't catch the beginning of this thread, but the original poster may want to consider alternate authentication methods (hostbased or pubkey based possibly with an ssh-agent) since they could eliminate the need for username/password auth in the first place.
