Since you did not say what version of SSH you are using I will tell you how I did it on the one from SSH.com.. Just use the Internal SFTP server (in the config use subsystem-sftp internal://sftp-server)and tell it to chroot the user to their home directory (assuming this is what you want to do).. I am doing it here for about 30,000 accounts on a web server. Works great..
