C/C++ SSH API available for User Authentication?

Hello folks,

I'm looking for a way to authenticate a user by login and password. Both parameters should be passed to a C or C++ function which return ok only if login & password authenticate an existing user of the underlying OS.

The solution should be independent of the OS its password encryption policy configured (crypt, Kerebos, etc.) The password will be entered by an oldfashioned GUI (not using stdin or X11)
that can embed C-functions or call external programs.

Does somebody know a possible way out of this? SSH technology could fulfill the requirements of OS and encryptrion independency?! However, is a C or C++ level API availble to use SSH for this user authentication?

Many thanks in advance for any helpful reply! Carsten Received on Wed Apr 16 19:46:03 2003
