public keys and common windows clients.

I have not been able to find good documentation online... please let me know if such exists.

here is my setup:

I use Portforwarder, putty and the ssh client from ssh.com. I use these to login (by password auth) to an OpenSSH (obsd) server. It seems like each program has their own key/identity formats... is there a common format?

here is what works:
I generate keys like ssh-keygen -b 2048 -t rsa -f foo Then I copy the public key to: ~/.ssh/authorized_keys.
>From a shell I can do where 'foo' is the private key:
ssh -i foo host.com
However all my windows clients will not authenticate with the OpenSSH public key.
What can I do?
guesses: use ssh1 or ssh2? use a dsa key? convert my keys to a client-specific format? generate keys with client-apps and copy that new public key to server? please help...
