Did you try starting the sshd daemon in debug mode in the server?

  • Stop the sshd daemon: /etc/init.d/sshd stop
  • Start sshd in debug mode: /usr/local/sbin/sshd -d -d -d

In this kind of problems, ssh -v in the client doesn't help much... Check the logs in the server too, they can reveal some info.

(I am presuming that you have admin on the server machine).
