You could block access to MS Windows Update at your proxy server/firewall. And then you could use IEAK to point the "Windows Update" option on the toolbar in IE to a location on your LAN. You could instruct your user base to visit the local update site once every so often to make sure the client is patched up to date. Hope that helps!

Subject: Local Windows Update?

Hello all,

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to redirect a client "Windows Update" to a local server? I am not using Active Directory and am trying to figure out how to keep 1500+ Win2000 Pro clients current with the latest patches (without using the M$ update site).

Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.
