Vineet,  

When you say, "trying to ping the network", do you mean he was trying to ping 192.168.0.0? If you needed the 200Mbps / 2Gbps (depending on the NIC capabilities) have you considered using NICs capable of teaming (like Intel Pro100/s - can't confirm Linux drivers)? This would give you your bandwidth and eliminate any confusion of which address to forward packets out of. It looks as if your friend is trying to set up a bridge - does he have a specific aim, or is this an academic exercise?
