I am also looking for the same information. I have 3 years of experience in linux.
I am also thinking of taking Security+(CompTIA's) as a first step. Can someone tell
me if it is OK to go for Security+ ? What certifications do I need to look that are
useful for a technical career in the areas of information security? Are security
certifications also there for particular platforsm ..I mean say for Linux? Are they
limited in any way like that? Which are having a market value these days on the technical
aspects?

Thanks in advance...
