Global Security Strategist, UK (Midlands) based

Salary to £75k + benefits

Key Accountabilities

Understand corporate business, its approach and direction and identify the direction for security including opportunities and constraints

Match security against the strategy model and identify how security can be used for competitive advantage

Work with the business strategy group to identify how security works with the overall business strategy and to forward opportunities, e.g. smart cards, biometrics, token authentication, etc

Identify the overall cost of security and its component parts and identify areas of over/under investment

Identify how existing security technologies interact and whether they are relevant / what their life-span should be

Identify the rationale for insourcing and outsourcing any aspects of security and keep this in line with overall IT strategy.

Be the resident expert on advances in security and provide view on them, e.g. Passport/Liberty Alliance, security & web services, biometrics, ISO standards, international legislation/regulation

Undertake structured and targeted competitor analysis on security practice, costs and benefits in the UK and overseas

Be credible with all levels of management, government departments and other external bodies

Develop propositions that clearly demonstrate whether

Key Experience

Educated to degree level in a computing subject

At least 10 years solid IT experience, with 3 years at a senior management level

Has an IT development background including major project management experience and design of large scale applications

Has worked at a strategic level, ideally in security strategy in a business where security is essential.

Has a good grasp of strategy models, organisation lifecycles, risk frameworks and technology lifecycles

Rounded and unbiased technology experience, ideally including web services

Ideally previous banking / regulated business experience

Able to demonstrate a track record of success in previous roles

Previous experience of working in fast moving, highly demanding environments

Previous account management / supplier management experience

Previous experience of researching, preparing and presenting fully cost and technology justified business cases.
