Director of Quality Assurance

Summary:

This is a pivotal position responsible for building and leading the QA, Automation and the release teams for an industry-leading software technology provider of Internet security products and services located in the Bay Area, CA. (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY PLEASE). You will interact with outside customers as well as functional peer groups at various management levels. Looking for a QA director with hands-on experience in a fast past environment that can help standardize practices and help scale. Looking for someone that can lead and mentor a team of QA engineers.

Education:

Requires a BS degree or equivalent.

Experience:

• 7 to 10 years of related technical experience and management experience in creating and managing the software quality assurance functions of a fast-paced technology organization.
• Excellent communicator
• Experience in managing other managers
• Strong knowledge of software development practices.
• Works well independently and with a team.
• Experience with automated test tools and Windows operating systems and applications.
• Experience in load testing tools.
• Experience in building and maintaining QA lab
• Ability to manage an offshore testing team
• Enthusiastic about the Internet/software technology industry, possess the ability and desire to trouble shoot, have a good sense of humor, and be able to work in a highly dynamic environment.
• At least 3 years in security field.
• Knowledge of network protocols, VPN, and Firewalls.

Skills:

• Requires in-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, tools and techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong project management skills; proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work closely with others.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Experience with all variations of Windows and Unix.
• Experience with CVS.

2 or more years of Software development experience. Languages in addition to English a definite plus

Responsibilities:

• Establish standards and oversee the definition and execution of product test plans and then analyze test results.
• Determine approach, scope, scheduling and time estimates for testing, and coordinate all communication relative to testing.
• Provide product support by researching, resolving, and responding to users regarding overall product and technical issues.
• Education of developers and project management in testing issues, terminology and processes.
• Conduct functional, stress/load testing of our product.
• Successful and timely completion of testing projects and product launches.
• Own, build consistent/repeatable quality assurance processes.
• Proactive communication with Engineering and Product Management to improve the overall test coverage.
• Collect, analyze and report testing metrics.
• Manage the hiring, development, training, scheduling and evaluation of full-time staff.
