Information Security Consultant Needed Immediately - SF Bay Area

There is an immediate need for a two-week contract project in May for an Information Security Consultant contractor. For the right consultant,  this is very likely to lead to further contract work and/or a permanent employee position.

This position requires independent hands-on security implementation, as well as high-level analysis regarding products and the design and development of security architectures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Travel will be required for this position.

Description and Job Responsibilities:

We are looking for experienced security engineers who have consulting experience only. You must have strong initiative and leadership skills.  A strong work ethic, responsibility and dedication are necessary. You will have the ability to work independently with clients, as well as in a team environment. You are experienced with evaluating, designing and implementing real world security and network security policies in a corporate environment. Responsible for evaluating the vulnerabilities and security of existing network solutions, including routers, switches,  hubs, servers and related applications, LANs, WANs, e-Commerce, and VPNs. Knowledgeable in the design and the implementation of secure network design. Must be able to design and implement firewalls and secure network access solutions. Knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection. Experienced in assessing network vulnerabilities (especially the use of Nessus and ISS), penetration testing, and securing systems from attack. May be responsible for network design and development of infrastructures.

Senior Security Engineers will have consulting experience and have CISSP certification and/or SANS GIAC certification in security tracks. A Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent professional security experience is preferred. We are seeking candidates with more than five years of professional information security consulting experience.

Must understand networking, telecommunications, messaging and enterprise management and have a solid awareness of current technology solutions. Experience with Windows, Linux, Unix, Solaris, TCP/IP, and application security for messaging based architecture, firewalls data security. Have knowledge of enterprise security mechanisms. Additional certifications in networking and security technology including any of the following: Cisco, Checkpoint, Microsoft, IBM, Sun, Citrix and Novell are an advantage.  This position also requires extensive knowledge of various Unix and Microsoft operating systems.
