Application Security Consultant - Chigago, ILL $70-$100K

Description:

The candidate for this position will be required to work with and influence developers, development managers, technology peers, and business contacts in regards to technology controls, risk mitigation techniques, and standardized information security solutions for the firms and 3rd party applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Contribute to the technical understanding and promotion of new and existing information security standards, solutions and tools.

Demonstrate a passion for and deep understanding of application security and software quality assurance.

Provide clear and concise recommendations and guidance in written and verbal form to both business and technology personnel.

Work effectively across a large information security team, understanding the larger teams role (network, platform and monitoring) in the overall security strategy of the firm.

Miscellaneous:
Evaluate and participate in outsourcing initiatives. Provide training and advise to junior application security personnel Operate and evaluate code scanning and review tools Participate in Design, Architecture and Code reviews

Skills:

Five to ten years experience in information security or related fields preferred.
Bachelors and Master's degree preferred, or other professional qualifications. Industry certifications such as GIAC, CISSP etc. desirable but not necessary.
Written and verbal communication skills a must; strong interpersonal skills essential. Job requires frequent interaction with Chief Information Security Officer, vice presidents, and managing directors of the company and other financial firms
Must be able to manage both time and work load without constant supervision. Good understanding of application security and development processes. Working knowledge of Java Servlets and Java Application Servers such as WebLogic and Tomcat. Familiar with Risk Analysis and Risk Management, Cryptography, Firewalls, IP and Web Security. Understanding of the security implications of the major privacy regulations such as GLB, HIPAA and the Patriot Act are a strong plus.

Other Information:

The role may involve infrequent travel to any place the firm operates. The nature of the role will involve flexibility to respond to out of hours calls, but is by no means an operations role. Previous work at large financial institution is a plus. Previous background in development a plus, but not required.
