SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director of Research and Development, the Research and
Development Engineer (R&D Eng.) will join a team of highly skilled R&D
engineers with varying expertise in vulnerability, software, and network
programming concentrations. Foundstone Labs, Foundstones global research
and development team, is responsible for providing advanced technical
content in Foundstones product suite, professional service arm, and
educational courses alike. As a R&D Engineer, you will be responsible
for leading and joining teams of engineers within Foundstone Labs to
research and or development advanced technologies. This position will be
a highly technical and opportunity for advancement does exist. Minimal,
less than 10%, travel may be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identify, research, analyze, and report on current information
security threats.
2. Conduct research on technologies, protocols, and applications in
efforts to enhance the Foundstone product suite.
3. Develop technical prototypes, tools, and applications for the
Foundstone product suite and professional services offerings.
4. Serve as a resource and team member for product and vulnerabilityrelated
projects to include vulnerability identification, analysis,
verification, and exploitation.
5. The ability to lead teams and initiatives in a distributed manner is
also mandatory.
6. The right candidate may have the opportunity to work remotely or in an
office of their choice to include Mission Viejo CA, San Antonio TX,
Washington D.C., New York - NY, or Boston - MA.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
A minimum of 4 years of programming experience to include at least
three of the following structured and scripting languages: C/C++/C#,
Java, Assembly, Perl, Python, Javascript, Shell, and PHP
Expertise in network protocol analysis to include TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP,
SNMP, FTP
A deep understanding of operating system and network architecture,
object-oriented programming, and system administration is required.
Network programming experience to include BSD sockets, WinSock(2), or
Java Sockets.
Object-oriented programming design and experience is required.
Post-graduate education is preferred.
OTHER ADVANTEGEOUS SKILLS:
In addition to the programming and scripting languages previously
mentioned, experience with any of the following tools and applications
would be beneficial: debuggers, sniffers, developer environments, test
environments, intrusion detection systems, VMWare, and WinSock2.
Other technology experience in cryptography, reverse engineering,
compiler and interpreter design, Unix-to-Win32 porting, application
assessments, penetration tests, and binary disassembling is welcomed.
