Looking for position

I am a Milwaukee/Chicago-area professional looking for an opportunity to utilize and expand my security and technical expertise. I hold my GSEC certification, and am working on my CCNA. I have approximately ten years of lightweight Systems Administration experience, created and ran a department dedicated to providing user access, and moved full-time into security work approximately two to three years ago, before a dedicated security department was created at my current company.

Recent security projects have included writing a web resource page for incident handling, configuring IDS, vulnerability assessments, hardening guidelines, and coordinating implementation of outsourced security monitoring.

I would like to take a more junior position at a firm where I could “rub shoulders” with more experienced staff. I am hoping that my knowledge of security will offset my lack of extensive networking or systems administration experience, and bring benefits to both myself and a company that may need that constellation of skills. I am willing to discuss relocation for the right opportunity.

Education and training include a certificate in CISCO Networking (First four Cisco Networking Academy courses), and SANS volunteer work for the Security Essentials, Advanced Incident Handling and Hacker Exploits, and Firewalls and VPN seminars.
