Added to that, Iraqis are well-educated people with a very large community of professionals. The bottom line? It'll be a while (years) before non- companies are looking for help in Iraq. As for the other question (companies willing to sponsor Americans to work abroad), there is a question of economics. If a non-American company is looking for resources, they will first look to resources within their own national boundaries - they don't have to involve themselves with work permit bureaucracy. If they are looking for resources to work outside their national boundaries you stand a better chance but, once again, most companies will look first at their fellow nationals because they are a known quantity to the hiring company. This sounds discouraging, I know, but keep looking. Having said all of the above, companies do hire extra-nationals, particularly for areas where skills are in short supply.
