Google: Network Security Engineer

Google is looking for someone to help provide security for our network and
systems. If network intrusion detective work is what you do for fun, you
can see suspicious activity in raw tcpdumps, and you have significant
experience in data forensics, then we'd love to receive your resume. As a
member of the operations team, you will be working closely with our
systems and network engineers in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Help define overall security strategies and procedures.
- Define and refine firewall policies.
- Develop and implement network intrusion detection strategies.
- Work with rest of operations team to monitor stability and performance
and ensure 24x7 operation.
- Monitor vendor and 3rd party security reports/lists and proactively
patch vulnerabilities.
- Perform security reviews and audits and help Google Engineers by
reviewing designs for security issues.
- Evaluate new and emerging products and technologies.
- Evangelize security within Google.
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 6+ years experience in an information / network security role at
companies with large networks.
- Strong background in system or network administration.
- Knowledge of multi-factor / strong authentication technologies and how
to implement them in heterogeneous environments.
- Familiarity with security technologies and issues on both Unix and
Windows.
- Strong Perl or other scripting skills.
- Should be able to read source code in several languages to scan for
security vulnerabilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
