A well funded St. Louis based start-up, located in the beautiful Chesterfield area, is looking for a Senior Software Developer experienced with PDA/ Mobile /Wireless (PocketPC AND/OR PALM) and PC applications development. The candidate will be responsible for designing, maintaining, developing, and improving the software for our unique client/server and stand-alone mobile applications. The candidate will develop software for a wide variety of PCs, PDAs, and wireless phone handsets (Smart Phones). This will be a hands-on technical lead position requiring some leadership but will primarily be direct hands-on development. This is a TERRIFIC ground-floor opportunity for the right candidate.

Major responsibilities include:
* Take a lead role in building a new development team creating next
generation security software and architectures for mobile devices.
* Report to VP of Engineering and work close with Chief Technologist
(Industry expert in PDA software security) in developing leading edge hitech  solutions.
* Work with management, QA, documentation, and the development team to
define and help manage all aspects of our new software group.
* Assist VP of Engineering with technical management of offshore co-

  • Interface all client software with existing and evolving server-side software/protocols.
  • Assist in supervising the QA testing.
  • Utilize coding and debugging skills.
  • Troubleshoot and debug deployment issues over a variety of PDA and Server configurations for Level 3 Customer Support after product roll-out.

Applicants MUST have hands-on demonstrable experience with six or more of the technical areas listed below to qualify:
* Extensive experience developing software for handheld devices on one or
more of the following platforms and software areas:
* PocketPC Windows CE

  • Palm OS 5 or equiv
  • Windows 2000/XP
  • Simbian
  • ActiveSync and/or HotSync
  • RSA Authentication
  • X9.9 Authentication
  • Firewall applications (port blocking, etc).
  • Data Encryption using FIP 140-2
  • Common Criteria (OPTIONAL)
  • Linux (client side)
  • Client and Server applications development on Windows platform
  • MS SQL Server database development
  • Compiled languages: C/C++, Visual C++, C# (OPTIONAL), Java
  • .NET and TCP/IP software development is preferred.

Candidates must be able to:
* Work in small organization in a pseudo-extreme programming environment.

  • Work through software lifecycle development process from design to deployment.
  • Understand and contribute to requirments capture and developments using some of the following:
  • UML design
  • Use Case Diagrams
  • Object Model Diagrams
  • Sequence diagrams and state charts.
  • Apply object oriented design techniques and methodologies.
  • Apply performance tuning and benchmarking to software applications and systems.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast paced, startup work environment. Some RAD.
  • Be familiar with TCP/IP network configuration and operations (Optional)
  • Apply Client/server and network programming experience
  • Have an understanding of HTTP, SMTP, POP, IMAP, FTP protocols, WEP.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to work in a small team environment.
