application auth

Hello everyone,

i need to do an web based application where it receive login and password from a database and then it connect directly to a web page that support a basic authentication.

The authentication job comes made from the browser

Explain myself better:
I receive from web server one full web page of link and would want that one of those connects to the first page of the mail of one determined person.
remeber that i have a login a password of the user.

How can i manage this thing ???

I think to do a link where thre is
www.mysite.com/auth?login=hello&passwd=friends but

every site manage authentication in a different way.

Can you suggest an alternative solution please ???
